On October 14, 2017 the Penncrest Band proudly hosted our first Festival of Bands — a non-competitive marching band event with the goal of sharing fun, music, and friendship with other area schools. In all, 900 students from 8 bands participated, including Springton Lake Middle School playing the National Anthem, and full field shows by Penncrest, Henderson, Springfield, Manheim Township, Garnet Valley, Owen J. Roberts, and Conestoga High Schools.

The evening was concluded with a grand finale featuring all 900 performers on the field playing “American the Beautiful”. The audience then joined in with commemorative kazoos to create a 1500 person band playing fan favorite “Hey, Baby”. Bands lingered on the field, seeming to not want the evening to end. Penncrest musicians even circled up on the 50 yard line for a repeat performance of portions of their show — just for the fun of it.

We are very grateful for the support of our band parents who volunteered in impressive numbers to help plan the event, to work that evening, and to donate refreshments. According to our Sign Up Genius, over 150 individuals signed up to help, representing almost every family of a band member.

We are considering making this an annual event and appreciate your sending any comments, feedback, and questions to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Thank you for supporting this our kids, our band, our school!
